Overview: The pharmacy technicians role is changing, and with it higher expectations for recognizing routine problems with prescriptions. An addition to training in the pharmacy, technicians must improve their knowledge of the most common prescriptions for infections. Promoting patient safety both through precautions taken through the prescription dispensing process, and proper documentation of antibiotic allergies and adverse effects may help improve competency and patient outcomes.
