Biotin


Some common functions:
Biotin is essential for the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, amino acids and fats.

Additional counseling points:
Biotin a water soluble B vitamin with excess being excreted in the urine.

Bacteria in the intestine synthesize biotin.  Extended use of antibiotics may reduce the bacteria count thereby reducing this synthesized biotin.

No toxic effects of high biotin intake have been reported.

Biotin may be found in beef liver, egg yolk, whole grain cereal, and soybeans, milk and nuts.
