Vitamin K


Some common functions:

Vitamin K is required for proper blood-clotting.
Vitamin K aids in the synthesis of blood-clotting regulators.

Additional counseling points:
Vitamin K requires a small amount of fat for proper absorption.

The three forms of Vitamin K are K1 (plant sources), K2 (synthesized by intestinal bacteria) and K3 (pro-vitamin form).

No toxicity has been reported with K1 (phylloquinone : plant sources). K3 (menadione : pro-vitamin form) is toxic at high levels.

Best sources of vitamin K are derived from green leafy vegetables.
