EQUASHIELD® Syringe Units — Closing the Gaps in Hazardous Drug Safety

For pharmacy decision-makers tasked with elevating safety standards in hazardous drug compounding and administration, EQUASHIELD® Syringe Units deliver a proven and streamlined solution. These Syringe Units are the only closed-back system available on the market, designed to prevent plunger rod contamination and eliminate the release of harmful vapors from the rear of the syringe. Through its unique closed pressure equalization mechanism—powered by a dual-needle, air-to-liquid exchange system and a sterile air chamber—EQUASHIELD® ensures no vapor or aerosol escapes throughout the handling process. This mechanism not only minimizes exposure risk but also eliminates the need for additional steps to equalize internal pressure, simplifying workflows for pharmacy staff.

EQUASHIELD® Syringe Units are fully encapsulated, shielding both syringe barrel and plunger from contamination. The permanently bonded connector prevents accidental disconnections and houses shielded needles to reduce the chance of needlestick injuries. This closed-system drug transfer device (CSTD) aligns with USP <800> compliance requirements and is available in a range of sizes (1 mL to 60 mL) to meet various operational needs:

  • Sizes Available: 1 mL, 3 mL, 5 mL, 10 mL, 20 mL, 35 mL, and 60 mL
  • Order Quantities: Unit counts range from 15 to 200 depending on size
  • Design Advantage: Built-in, closed-back sterile air chamber requiring no manual pressure equalization

EQUASHIELD® helps institutional pharmacies, infusion centers, and oncology care providers stay at the forefront of safety and compliance—by design, not just by protocol.
