Her nominators commented, “She was a very tough preceptor who made me want to do better and learn more. It was the hardest rotation out of all of them and I loved it the most! She is a very dedicated woman who wants to teach you and listen to you.” The College of Pharmacy was the first health science college at the University of Arizona. Now more than 60 years old, it is consistently ranked in the top tier of pharmacy education programs by America’s Best Graduate Schools. It is also annually among the top 10 pharmacy schools in terms of NIH funding. 2300 MacCorkle Ave. SE, Charleston, WV 25304 www.ucwv.edu/Pharmacy Longtime resident of southern WV, Jude Ziolkowski, Pharm.D., BCPS, earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida in 2006. In 2008, Dr. Ziolkowski accepted the position of Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV, where he served as preceptor over his newly created acute care rotation focusing on his antibiotic stewardship program. By harboring an environment of mutual respect and an ability to truly connect with his students, he quickly turned the rotation into one of the most popular and requested sites available at UC. In 2010, he accepted the Director of Pharmacy Services position where he maintains an active role of preceptor for a hospital pharmacy administration elective. As any of his former students will attest, the rules were made clear from day one. “1. We’re going to have fun and 2. We’re going to learn something. If either of these doesn’t happen, we’re doing something wrong.” If you are interested in becoming a UCSOP preceptor please contact David Bowyer at (304) 357-4892 or davidbowyer@ucwv.edu PrecePtor of the Year Paul Anderson, BS, RPH University of Colorado School of Pharmacy Nontraditional Doctor of Pharmacy Program Paul Anderson was awarded the Preceptor Achievement Award for his outstanding performance in precepting pharmacy students in the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience in May 2011.
