The University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy Preceptor of the Year Award Dr. Michael Nailor, Pharm.D, and Dr. Adam Pesaturo, Pharm.D, receive the Dennis J. Chapron “Preceptor of the Year Award” at the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. Dr. Nailor, assistant clinical professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice received the full-time faculty member award. His practice site is located at Hartford Hospital, where he offers student rotations in the specialty areas of infectious disease and clinical research. At the hospital, he oversees antimicrobial stewardship, helping physicians select the best antibiotics for infected patients. At UConn, Dr. Nailor teaches classes on infectious diseases and critical care, his research and rotation expertise. He is also the director of the infectious disease pharmacy practice residency. Adam Pesaturo, Pharm.D, received the adjunct faculty external award. Dr. Pesaturo is a pharmacist at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts and offers pharmacy students rotations in his specialty area of critical care. At Baystate Medical Center, Dr. Pesaturo is the critical care pharmacist for the medical/surgical intensive care unit. He dedicates the majority of his time to providing pharmaceutical services to critically ill patients. In addition to caring to his patients, Dr. Pesaturo serves as an educator for pharmacy residents and students. Attridge for her contribution and dedication to our students. We also gratefully acknowledge all our preceptors who contribute to the education of our students. Dr. Arcelia Johnson-Fannin Rebecca L. Attridge, PharmD, MSc, BCPS University Hospital - San Antonio, TX 2011 Preceptor of the Year, Dr. Attridge is a 07’ graduate of UT-Austin. She received her Master of Science in Pharmacy in 2009. She completed a 2-year specialty residency in pharmacotherapy the UT-Austin and UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Attridge is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the UIW Feik School of Pharmacy and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. Her areas of interest include critical care and infectious disease. Dr. Attridge works as Critical Care Specialist and precepts pharmacy students at University Hospital in San Antonio, TX in the medical intensive care unit. The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy would like to thank Don Fillmore, R.Ph., for his dedication in precepting introductory pharmacy practice students. Don was nominated for this award by a student who was impressed with Don’s strong rapport with his customers, commitment to serving others and willingness to teach and mentor students. His ability to engage with students is an asset to the College of Pharmacy. 2010-11 Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Preceptor of the Year: Alton Farmer, R.Ph. The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy would like to thank Alton Farmer, R.Ph., for his impact on UF APPE students completing institutional pharmacy experiences at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Alton was nominated for this award by several students who noted his dedication to patient safety within the inpatient pharmacy. The students at Mercy St. Vincent’s consider Alton to be an excellent role model who is dedicated to his patients and committed to teaching and precepting students. Thank You Dr. Frank Weinhold Dr. Frank Weinhold Dr. Frank Weinhold is the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka, KS. He has the unique distinction of having been awarded Preceptor of the Year twice. Students enjoy how he incorporates them into the workload as practitioners. Thank you Frank for your continued support of the students and the School of Pharmacy. The University of Kansas has over 500 licensed Preceptors who participate in the IPPE and APPE programs. By tradition, the graduating class selects those individuals they wish to honor with a Preceptor of the Year Award. The class of 2011, wish to thank Dr. Frank Weinhold for his dedication and teaching excellence.
