One of the primary CCH 2012Asks involved a formal rule-making request issued to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on constructive transfer of controlled substances. Letters to the DEA on this key patient issue were sent to both the House and Senate at the end of July. IACP Members who attended this year’s CCH played a vital role in lobbying their respective Members of Congress, asking them to support either the House or Senate letter. The House letter, championed by Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX), and the Senate letter championed by Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), quickly enlisted the support of several key congressional members due in large part to the groundwork done by pharmacists attending CCH 2012.
