Brian Litten on Making AssureCare Impossible to Ignore: An RXinsider Interview

Brian Litten on Making AssureCare Impossible to Ignore: An RXinsider Interview

By Joshua Murdock, PharmD, BCBBS

AssureCare is an AI-powered population health management company whose platform spans payers, providers, and pharmacies; it’s built around whole-person care. The company recently brought in a new executive to help grow the platform’s reach.

In August 2026, Brian Litten was named Executive Vice President (EVP) of Growth and Commercialization at AssureCare, bringing more than 30 years of experience across the payer, provider, and pharmacy sectors. He previously built the payer and provider market business at Tabula Rasa HealthCare (now AnewHealth), a role that included the company’s 2016 NASDAQ IPO.

In this exclusive interview with RXinsider, Litten discusses why he joined AssureCare, how the company’s connected platform addresses stakeholders accustomed to making decisions in isolation, and why he sees deepening existing relationships with health plans, providers, and pharmacies as AssureCare’s fastest path to growth.

He also addresses the most underused lever in selling coordinated-care technology, the one question buyers should be asking before adopting a new platform, and what success looks like for AssureCare over the next 2 years.

RXinsider: What made this move to AssureCare, stepping into the EVP of Growth and Commercialization role, the right next step for you?

Litten: I have spent 3 solid decades working in and around health tech and watching healthcare organizations promise transformation and, too often, fall short. Technology is usually the weakest part of health tech companies, and that’s surprising. That shouldn’t be the case.

What convinced me about AssureCare was actually seeing this agile, elegant platform built and operating, already doing what everyone else is still talking about building. It’s one connected system that spans payers, providers, and pharmacies, built around whole-person care, not just a piece of it. And that’s a really hard problem. And AssureCare has already solved for it.

My job now, which I find exciting and inspiring, is to make sure the market knows about this and how differentiated the company is from others in the space.

RXinsider: One of AssureCare’s main pitches is connecting payer, provider, and pharmacy partners in a single system. As the person driving growth across all three of those relationships, do they each need something different from you right now, or is there one thread that runs through all three?

Litten: On the surface, the stakeholders all appear to need different things. A health plan is worried about the total cost of care. A provider organization might be worried about clinical outcomes and documentation burden. Pharmacies, and this is particularly relevant for your audience, are trying to do something more fundamental. They’re establishing pharmacists as clinical providers, not just dispensers. That means documenting clinical services, obtaining credentialing, billing for the work, and demonstrating outcomes. AssureCare’s platform is built specifically for that; it’s the infrastructure that gives pharmacists the tools to practice at the top of their license and get paid for it.

There is a common thread running through all three: they’re all making decisions about the same person in isolation. That fragmentation, in how care is delivered and how the industry thinks about these issues, is costing everyone in dollars, outcomes, and trust.

What AssureCare offers is that connection. For example, when a pharmacist flags a medication interaction, the care manager is notified. When a provider closes a care gap, the payer sees it. And that loop is what makes the whole system work.

Right now, I’m spending time with each audience to make sure they understand what’s possible when you stop treating coordination as somebody else’s problem.

RXinsider: AssureCare’s platform already supports over 60 million lives. As you pursue growth, is the bigger opportunity to go deeper with the health plans and providers already on the platform, or to bring new ones in? Both?

Litten: I think it’s both, really. But if I had to sequence them, I would say it is going deeper first. Health plans, providers, and pharmacies already on our platform are our strongest proof points and our best advocates.

When a health plan sees what’s possible, they want more of it. That’s what happens when payer, provider, and pharmacy data are connected within a single system. It can lead to faster authorizations, earlier risk identification, and stronger member engagement. That growing motivation within the relationships we already have is where the fastest value lies.

At the same time, AssureCare has been something of a well-kept secret. The substance of what we’ve been doing has been there for years, but my job is to make sure more of the market gets to experience what’s already been built.

New logo growth is very much a part of the plan, but we’re not starting from scratch. We have an incredibly strong foundation. People know the AssureCare brand, but not enough people know what we do and the power we bring to the market.

RXinsider: Healthcare populations are getting more complex, and care is arguably more fragmented across systems than ever. What’s the commercialization lever that’s most underused by companies trying to sell coordinated-care, AI-driven platforms into that environment?

Litten: It’s proof. We’re not talking about promises, demos, or capability checklists. It’s proof.

Healthcare buyers have been pitched transformation for decades, and time and again, they’ve seen it underdeliver. So they’re skeptical. And they should be. The most underutilized lever is the documented outcome — not a case study with anonymized numbers, but a real story about how a health plan or provider organization has measurably changed something.

When a buyer can see themselves in a story, the same patient population, same pain points, same constant system constraints, the conversation changes completely.

At AssureCare, we’re investing heavily in building that library of proof because in this environment, showing beats telling every time.

RXinsider: If you’re talking to a health plan or provider organization evaluating population health platforms right now, what’s the one question they should be asking that most don’t?

Litten: In my experience, when being presented with a platform, most organizations will ask, “What does a platform do?” I think a better question they should be asking is: “What will my care team actually use?”

The graveyard of healthcare is full of very sophisticated platforms that clinical and operations teams have never adopted. The technology may have worked, but the workflow didn’t.

What sets AssureCare apart is that we’ve built our platform around how care is actually delivered, including the pharmacist’s existing workflow, the care manager’s queue, and the authorization process already underway. Rather than asking people to change how they work to fit the software, we built around it.

The adoption question really determines whether a platform delivers ROI or just sits on the shelf and collects dust.

RXinsider: What does success look like for you at AssureCare 1 to 2 years from now?

Litten: It’s a great question. It’s the one that motivates me the most every day to be part of such a wonderful company with a terrifically smart and engaged team. This elegant, agile software platform actually works. But the market doesn’t fully understand, perhaps beyond just the name AssureCare, what it is that we do. To me, success looks like AssureCare being a brand that is impossible to ignore in conversations about population health, care management, and utilization management.

Right now, we manage over 60 million lives, and that’s not a small company. But the market doesn’t see us that way yet. I want that to be very different within 2 years. More specifically, within 2 years, I’d like every health plan, provider organization, and pharmacy to experience what connected whole-person care looks like on one platform. We’ll have more documented outcomes we can point to, and we will have a brand that earns the trust it deserves.
