This is a session for ACA Fellows and members to share innovative practice ideas and programs they have developed within their pharmacy practice and the pharmacist and technician attendees may be able to implement in their pharmacy practice. At the conclusion of this educational session, the pharmacist and technician attendee will be able to: • Develop strategies and program ideas to improve his/her practice. • Be familiar with a number of innovative practice ideas which have been developed in community pharmacy practices. • Determine whether or not to implement these ideas into his/her pharmacy practice. • Recognize the implications these services have on individual pharmacy practice. You will understand the significance of improved drug formulations and toxicities seen in horses from human products. Attendees will be able to consult with veterinarians and clients about veterinary products and human products, used extra-label in horses. At the conclusion of this educational session, the pharmacist attendee will be able to: • Describe the pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and physiology of GI drugs in horses. • Discuss the approved veterinary GI products and drug restrictions. • Identify the clinical equine skills to consult with veterinarians and clients on information of extra-label human GI drugs used in horses.
