At the conclusion of this educational session, the pharmacist and technician attendee will be able to: • Describe the barriers to pharmacy valuation. • Normalize financial data for valuation. • Determine an equitable selling/purchase price for a pharmacy. • Describe the details of a Junior Partnership. Jackson, PhD, President, Community Pharmacy Consulting Program Type: Knowledge-Based IACP – Quality Assurance and Quality Control-Man, Machine and Method Caribbean Salons VI, VII, VIII 0201-9999-14-009-L04-P/T This session is designed to help the pharmacist deliver safe, reliable and accurate compounded preparations to their patients. This is accomplished by understanding the standards and regulations; and looking at practical examples of quality control, quality assurance and continuous quality improvement. At the conclusion of this educational session, the pharmacist and technician attendee will be able to: • Identify and understand current standards and regulations relating to compounding pharmacies. • Compare and contrast Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). • Identify at least one Practical Application(s) for each – QA, QC and CQI. • Discuss current standards and regulations relating to compounding pharmacies. Kupiec, PhD, Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL) Program Type: Knowledge-Based ACVP – “New Horizons” – The Pharmacists Role in Veterinary Hospice and Palliative Care Caribbean Salons I & II 0201-9999-14-010-L01-P/T Although the concept of pet hospice has been around since the late 1980’s, the veterinary profession in general has only recently recognized this unique opportunity for service. With their familiarity of human hospice and palliative care options for human patients, pharmacists are natural and ideal members of a veterinary hospice team. At the end of this presentation, pharmacists and technicians should understand the similarities and differences between human and animal hospice and be able to market their skills for establishing an animal hospice with a veterinarian. At the conclusion of this educational session, the pharmacist and technician attendee will be able to: • Compare human hospice to veterinary hospice. • Identify challenges of establishing a veterinary hospice. • Determine the pharmacist and technician’s role in veterinary hospice and palliative care.
