Dr. Pyhtila is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the VA Maryland Health Care System with a practice both in inpatient palliative care and outpatient home based primary care. She received her PharmD in 2014 from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She has developed and delivered web-based interdisciplinary curricula for both The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She completed a teaching certificate program through the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy during her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residencies at the VA Maryland Health Care System. She has been a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy since 2017, and precepts APPE students in an elective geriatric pharmacotherapy rotation. Jessica was awarded the Outstanding New Preceptor of the Year Award for 2017-2018.
