MCPHS University Office of Experiential Annual Preceptor Appreciation Seminar was
held on September 8, 2016, in Westborough, MA. There were over 170 preceptors
in attendance. A new award, Excellence in Interprofessional Education, was
presented to the VNA of Manchester and Southern NH, by Nicole Carace, Pharm
D, MCPHS University Faculty Coordinator, Manchester campus. The award was
initiated to recognize preceptors who provide the opportunity for students to learn
about, from, and with other healthcare professionals and students of healthcare
professions, and presents invaluable learning opportunities for future pharmacy
practitioners. Selection is based upon the preceptor’s commitment to engaging their
students in interprofessional collaborative practice as documented through the
student’s completed Interprofessional Education (IPE) assessments. APPE students
visit patients with healthcare professionals (nurses, physical therapists, and
occupational therapists) and provide medication reconciliation, drug information,
and education to patients. Accepting the award were Christine Neveu-Beattie, RN
and Michelle Lessner, RN.
