As one of the only privately owned pharmacies in their region, Lakeview Pharmacy in Racine, Wisconsin processes prescriptions for both retail and long-term care customers.
Founded in the 1970s, the company has garnered a loyal customer base that contributes to the pharmacy’s average of processing 150 to 250 prescriptions per day on the retail end alone, operating six days a week. To ensure Lakeview’s pharmacy technicians – five working in retail and four in long-term care – could fill prescriptions at high speed and with high accuracy, the company sought a tabletop automation solution: the Eyecon® system by Avery Weigh-Tronix.
“Prior to Eyecon, we would hand-count all prescriptions, which can be time-consuming for large orders,” said Tiffany McWhorter, pharmacy technician at Lakeview. “Eyecon has expedited and improved the accuracy of our fill counts, and it serves as a convenient backup for prescriptions that must be double-counted.”
Eyecon is a prescription validation, counting and filling system designed to improve filling accuracy, customer safety and inventory management. Employing a unique Visual Counting System™, Eyecon was designed to keep up with challenging workloads, filling 100% of your prescriptions. Eyecon benefits pharmacy technicians as well – reducing tedium and stress while freeing up technicians to spend more time with customers.
