Jason Callori is a senior advisor, Marketing Operations, and host of the Cardinal Health™ Counter Talk™ Podcast. Jason has worked at Cardinal Health since 2014 and has used his passion to connect with pharmacists for the annual Cardinal Health Retail Business Conference. He started his career back in 1999 with Kinray Inc., a pharmaceutical wholesaler in the state of New York. He was hired to create the company’s first website which blossomed into a 22-year career in marketing to independent pharmacists. While working at Kinray, he learned about challenges the pharmacists, the patients, and how important independent pharmacies are to healthcare. Jason’s passion for the independent pharmacy filters into everything he does.

Episode 23 – Why Independent Pharmacy – Erik Hudson and Western Medical Equipment and Drug- ­ ­With the scope of services and treatments expanding in their stores, independent pharmacies are realizing their ability to significantly impact the communities they serve. Pharmacists are now taking on more responsibilities beyond traditional roles and extending their services into their communities.

Erik Hudson, pharmacy manager of Western Medical Equipment and Drug in Woodward, Oklahoma, not only shares his journey into pharmacy but also addresses what he’s doing to encourage his seven pharmacies, five medical supply locations and over 90 employees to meet their community members where they are: in nonprofits, food banks and long-term care facilities.

For Hudson, being a successful independent pharmacy means getting involved in the communities he serves, and success to him means he’s effectively reaching and treating them.

About the Guests

Erik Hudson – Pharmacy manager of Western Medical Equipment and Drug

Erik Hudson was born and raised in Buffalo, OK where he graduated from High School in 2004. Erik went on to Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy upon graduation in 2010. He was a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmacy Fraternity and Rho Chi Honor Society while there and graduated with honors.

After graduation Erik became the Pharmacist in Charge at Western Drug in Clinton, OK. He worked in Clinton until moving to Woodward in the fall of 2013. He continues to work with Western Drug as a relief pharmacist and is the Pharmacy Manager over all of Western Drugs pharmacies.

Erik is married to Heather Hudson (Daily) and they have one small child, Max. He enjoys working out, hunting on family land in Buffalo and going on elk hunting trips.
