Job Alert: Pharmacist Supervisor - Oncology Infusion Center with UCLA Health


Under the general supervision of the Director of Inpatient Pharmacy, the Senior Pharmacist Supervisor shall be responsible for managing the Bowyer Infusion Center.  Functions shall include ensuring adequate staffing, training new employees, performing employee evaluations, and other competency participating in inter- and intradepartmental committees, and ensuring that drug distribution and clinical services are provided according to established departmental policies and procedures.

The Senior Pharmacist will verify orders from hospital clinics, compound/prepare hazardous and non-hazardous medications and dispense these drugs.  In addition the staff pharmacist will be expected to perform a range of functions that include the preparation and dispensing of many types of extemporaneous and bulk compounded non-sterile pharmaceutical dosage forms (oral dispersions and solutions, topical creams and ointments, rectal and vaginal suppositories and oral bulk packs), to fulfill orders from outpatient and inpatient pharmacy practice areas and from clinics.  These skills include the operation and maintenance of specialized equipment, and are obtained through extensive training and experience. May interact with other health professionals to help prevent inappropriate or misuse of medications; provision of clinical services (e.g., pharmacokinetic dosing, therapeutic interchange, IV/PO conversions, TPN per pharmacy, pharmacist interventions) according to departmental policy and procedures.


Qualifications:

- Pharm D. required, Valid California Pharmacist license required, ASHP-accredited residency (required) and ASHP-accredited in Oncology (preferred). 

- BCOP preferred

- Ability to verify both hazardous and non-hazardous drug orders and critically evaluate the orders.

- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with co-workers and professional staff.

- Ability to set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.

- Ability to work independently and follow-through on assignments with minimal supervision.

- Ability to read and understand and interpret current scientific literature.

- Ability to effectively communicate orally on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and to persuade others to adopt a specific option or action.

- Knowledge of and ability to perform age specific and disease specific pharmacokinetic calculations.

- Strong customer service orientation with an unwavering commitment to patient safety and quality.

- Proven track record in managing financial operations, personnel, quality function, information technology and other professional aspects of current hospital practice.
