“Having an ICU rotation as your first APPE rotation experience can be pretty intimidating, but looking back over the past year this was one rotation that I learned the most on. Dusty did a great job laying out expectations for us on day 1. This was extremely helpful, since at this point I still had no idea how rotations really worked. His teaching method of working up patients and applying (FAST-HUG) to each patient we encountered really opened my eyes of how big an impact a pharmacist can have on the health care of a patient. During this month, Dusty took it upon himself to make sure I was prepared for the remainder of my rotations, which I truly appreciated. He provided numerous recommendations on formal presentations/topic discussions that I utilized the remaining of my rotations. Dusty goes above and beyond the normal duties of a preceptor, and he truly wants every student here at Manchester to succeed. I am thankful I have gotten the opportunity to know him as a mentor and a preceptor on rotation.
