The pharmacy industry has seen a shift from medication dispensing to the critical goal of improving patient outcomes. To ensure that goal, patients want to know that their pharmacy cares about their safety and provides accurate medication and instruction.
The Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) is an independent, not-for-profit organization, and share a commitment to patient health through pharmacies employing knowledgeable professionals and having safety protocols and standards. They accomplish these imperatives through BOC-certified professionals and BOC-accredited pharmacies.
This accreditation assures patients, physicians, professional organizations, and the public that the pharmacy is taking additional steps to uphold professional standards and protect patients. For government agencies, the accreditation demonstrates that a pharmacy meets standards established by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the respective state boards of pharmacy standards.
