American Biotech Supply is proud to announce the launch of a new product line certified in accordance with the new NSF/ANSI 456 Standard for Vaccine Storage. ABS now offers a series of undercounter and upright refrigerators that take pharmacy cold storage to the next level of performance.
Why NSF?
NSF International, through collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control, recently launched the NSF/ANSI 456 Standard for Vaccine Storage. This standard was designed to help vaccine administrators provide the safest, most effective vaccine storage in the equipment they use. Until now, there was no national standard to guide users toward the correct equipment for each vaccine application. Some sources offer direction, such as the CDC Vaccine Toolkit, but the new NSF/ANSI 456 Standard offers guidance with the assumption of worst-case scenarios. It considers disorganized storage, packaging malfunction, and careless handling habits by providers (i.e., shoving vials where they shouldn’t be kept, overloading units, etc.). NSF/ANSI 456 certification ensures that even if CDC storage recommendations are not followed, units can combat these issues and keep vaccines safely stored at proper temperatures.
Unit Features
All our newly certified ABS units satisfactorily meet the requirements for the NSF/ANSI 456 Standard. These vaccine refrigerators feature microprocessor controllers and temperature alarms, remote alarm contacts, LED interior lighting, and probe access ports. Units run on HFC-free refrigerant for environmental health and energy efficiency. For more information on the benefits of the NSF/ANSI 456 standard and its impact on vaccine storage, see the documents attached.
