Can We Reverse Aging? New Research Signals New Possibilities in Longevity Science

GENE Therapy

The study reveals that aging may be reversible by partially reprogramming cells in mice. This process restored youthful gene expression and improved tissue functions such as optic nerve regeneration. It was achieved using a combination of genes known as the Yamanaka factors, typically consisting of the following three:

OCT4

Protein that helps cells stay youthful by controlling genes to renew themselves and repair tissue.

SOX2

Helps preserve cellular plasticity by enabling cells to remain flexible and capable of becoming any cell type.

KLF4

Gene-regulating protein that supports the reprogramming of adult cells by promoting youthful functions while preserving cellular identity.
